Dear Public, I have known Lee Cole during the course of the last three years. In that time, he has proven himself to be an industrious innovator, as well as a competent and respected business man. I met him, in his capacity, as a tireless promoter of his life-long love in skating. I also know and respect Lee as a husband and father. On the technical side, Mr. Cole has developed a concept and subsequently several products which promote improved posture in both the sitting and standing position. His thesis is that poor posture is largely due to evolutionary forces exacerbated by environmental factors which have ultimately resulted in human asymmetry. Specifically, most of us have developed a functionally long leg, usually the left. To accomodate this asymetry, we have developed a compensatory three-dimensional pelvic tilt with a resultant loss of the normal and necessary lumbar curve. Because of the forced couples and linked facetal translation which occurs in the human spine, a compesatory deformity develops in the uppper back-hyper/hypo kyphosis and the cervical spine-hyper/hypo lordosis. Mr Cole has developed these concepts from his interpretaions of the literature on human posture and from years of observation in the biomechanics of a normal and an athletic gate. This then, is his explanation of the spectrum of human postural problems, which range from flat feet-pen planus, low back pain-scatia, and the repetitive stress problems of the upper extremeties and the neck of modern man. |
